Stay Informed: Loneliness Epidemic, Measles Warning, and Accessible Syllabi Resources
NASEM also has a recent publication about dealing with the “loneliness epidemic” in the United States. It focuses on the populations made more at risk due to the COVID-19 pandemic and suggests strategies in five domains to decrease social isolation.
A recent Medscape article discusses how the measles outbreak we are seeing in the United States is a warning for the re-emergence of other infectious diseases.
The Chronicle’s “Teaching” newsletter has been discussing making syllabi more accessible to students. Two tools were recently highlighted to help instructors make themselves, and their teaching strategies, more visible to students in the syllabus. One is a checklist from MIT, which can be downloaded or used online. The second is an online tool that requires a google sign-on. It is available from Baylor University.
